The Utah Wildlife Summit Planning Committee

The Utah Wildlife Summit is a collaborative event that aims to bring together stakeholders from across the state, including wildlife enthusiasts, conservationists, government agencies, and local communities. Our goal is to address critical issues facing Utah's wildlife, share knowledge, and develop actionable strategies for sustainable wildlife and habitat management.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who:

  • Care about wildlife: A strong interest in wildlife conservation and management goes a long way.

  • Have a DIY attitude: We welcome individuals who engage in their communities, see a need and fill a need, and care about the health and vitality of their communities, including their urban or rural environment. Backgrounds in advocacy, volunteering, biology, policy, education, event planning, and community outreach are not necessary but may help.

  • Are Team Players: Collaboration and communication are key components of our work.

  • Can Commit Time: Committee members should be available for 1.5 hour weekly meetings and 3 hours of independent or paired work each week leading up to the summit, from March through May.

As a member of the planning committee, you will:

  • Help organize and coordinate the summit's logistics, including venue selection, agenda development, and speaker recruitment.

  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders to gather input and encourage participation.

  • Promote the event through various channels to ensure a diverse audience.

  • Collaborate with fellow committee members to ensure the summit's success.

Application Requirements:

If you’re ready to make a difference and be part of something impactful, please submit your application by writing a cover letter and emailing it to isobel@utahwildlifefederation.org with the subject title "Wildlife Summit Application" before January 11th, 2025. Resume optional.

Your cover letter should tell us:

  • About you! Where you grew up? Why you live in Utah? Anything you would like to share about your education and/or work journey?

  • Why you are interested in being on the planning committee?

  • What experiences would you like to have? What skills would you like to flex and/or develop while on the committee?

  • What outcomes for your community and Utah's wildlife would you aspire to create by being on the Summit planning committee?

  • Anything else you think could be relevant?

Representation Stipend:

If you are part of a community or demographic that has been historically underrepresented in wildlife conservation circles $500 stipends can be made available if this would make a meaningful difference in your ability to contribute as a member of the planning committee. If you are interested in a stipend please let us know in your cover letter and share the community(ies) you are a part of that has been historically underrepresented in wildlife conservation and the outcomes you would like the Wildlife Summit to create for your community's representation in wildlife conservation in Utah.
